Conditions for obtaining a visa to enter the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Entry into the country of foreign citizens (with the exception of citizens of some countries of the former USSR) is allowed with a valid passport and entry visa, which can be obtained from the embassies of Tajikistan abroad (in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, USA, Pakistan).
The cost of obtaining a tourist visa for citizens arriving in the republic is 25 US$.
Tajikistan has a visa-free regime with all CIS countries, except for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
A simplified visa regime operates with another 69 countries of the world, according to which diplomatic, service, business and tourist visas for up to 45 days can be obtained upon entering the territory of the republic, right at Dushanbe airport. Among these countries are Great Britain, China, USA, Germany, Iran, France, the Baltic countries, Japan, Turkey and others.
For those wishing to visit Tajikistan, it is necessary to have an invitation from a local organization, firm, enterprise, individual, which is submitted for consideration to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Ministry of Internal Affairs (depending on the purpose of the visit).
The term for consideration of the request is 30 working days.
In case of obtaining an official entry permit (Confirmation of invitation), this document is sent to the Tajik embassy in the country where a foreign citizen is expected to obtain a visa, and the procedure for obtaining a visa is carried out directly at the embassy.
According to the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan "On approval of the simplified procedure for issuing entry and exit visas of the Republic of Tajikistan to citizens of the countries of the European Union, the USA and Japan" No. 460 dated October 25, 2003, visas to citizens of the above countries must be issued within 3 working days.
In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 368 dated September 12, 1998 "On checkpoints across the State border of the Republic of Tajikistan" with subsequent additions and changes, entry (exit) into the country is possible through any international checkpoint across the state border open for entry.

Since January 2010, changes have been introduced to the procedure for the stay of foreign citizens on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan:
1. Foreign tourists who have an invitation can stay on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan without registration for 30 days.
2. The fee for a permit to climb over 3000 m has been abolished.
To travel through (to) the territory of the border zone (for example, in GBAO), a special permit is required, issued by the territorial department of internal affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or OVIR.

When traveling with children, consider:
1) Children under 14 who do not have a foreign passport must be entered in the passport of their parents. Children over 6 years of age entered in the passport must have a photograph pasted.
2) If a minor child travels with one of the parents, a notarized power of attorney from the other parent must be submitted.
3) If a minor child (under 18 years of age) travels unaccompanied by parents, a notarized power of attorney from both parents must be submitted to the accompanying person, or to the receiving party in Tajikistan.
4) In the case of an incomplete family, it is necessary to provide notarized copies of the relevant documents, which may include:
a) death certificate of the other parent;
b) certificate of a single mother;
d) Form 25 provided in the registry office, if the father is entered in the birth certificate from the words of the mother;
e) court order on the unknown whereabouts of the other parent.
